Marestella Torres Sunang

Marestella is arguably the most accomplished and decorated Asian Female athletes of all-time. A national-level member of the Philippines Team since her late teens, now at age of 35 she continues to excel in a near-20 year run as Asia’s “Long Jump Queen”.

 

Over the course of her career, Marestella has accomplished the following:

– 4 time Gold Medalist, Southeast Asia (SEA) Games

– Gold Medalist, Asian Championships

– Philippines National Record Holder

– Southeast Asia Record Holder

– 16 Time Philippines National Champion

– 3 Time Olympian (2008, 2012, and 2016)

Marestella’s biggest accomplishment is her most recent. After becoming a mother in 2014, she was forced to withdraw from the national team. At age 33 and post-partum, she started a long road back to fitness and re-earning her spot on the national team. Juggling being a wife, mother, and national athlete, Marestella not only succeeded by thrived. Through leveraging the best-in-class knowledge in diet, fitness, and training programs, Marestella at the age of 35 re-set the National and SEA Records and became an Olympic Qualifier for the third time. She proved one can build peak fitness at any age and coming back from the most difficult of situations. Marestella’s story has become an inspiration for women and mothers around the globe.
